The only time management skill you need in 2024.

“We are IN TIME. We don't need to manage time; we really need to manage our health and energy."

time being an internal state and not an external state.

Time Management skills have always been something that we have tried to hone, but still in some or the other way we fail to master it. I have been there too, so I know the pain when I wished for some extra hours to work on my personal goals or probably just rest and not feel guilty about it.

It was only when my Guru, Guru Pashupati put light on this topic, I realised that the concepts and beliefs we behold about what exactly time management is or what are the skills required to “manage time” are wrong. We have been chasing the wrong thing! Come along to unleash this topic and get a new perspective on what skills are really required to manage time as we delve into the root cause of why one fails to have time management skills.

What exactly are time management skills?

Let’s start this section by first busting some myths around what we have been taught about “time”. Get ready to be mind blown with what yoga teaches us about time.

Myth no- 1- “Time needs to be managed!”

We keep using the term “Time Management” as if it is some external thing or some cold science that we need to understand. NO!! The real definition of time management is that,

Time is a living entity. Time is Maa Kali, and she cannot be managed.

Mahakala and Mahakali are the forms of Shiva and Shakti that control time. Time can only be gained through her blessings, and that can only happen when we respect her.

How to respect her will be covered in the sections below, so keep reading.

Myth no- 2- “Time is the same for everyone!”

You too, like me, might have heard this from various people and sources that- “Time is same for everyone, everyone has 24 hours”

Do you think it really is? Let me give you an example.

Let’s say you are a healthy person, so the ultimate inference would be, that you carry a self-image of a healthy person, and, hence you have the energy and health to do more things in 24 hours. What if you are someone who has health issues of any form -small or big? Do you think you will be able to do the same number of activities as a healthy person? It’s a straightforward answer.

Time varies for different people based on 3 factors-  their health, energy, and self-image. The healthier you are, the more energy you have and ultimately, you have more time to accomplish things.

We all have come across a lot of teachings about time management skills and techniques like blocking time for some task or a goal, prioritising methods, creating boundaries, goal setting and many more. But has it always worked? I don’t think so.

Why are we able to do some tasks while some go missing or we feel bored to take up something else?

That’s only because we created the energy within us to fulfil the task we completed. You see, space and time come out of an energy field. So, if we increase our energy field, we will increase our time. When we say, “I don’t have time”, we imply that we have a small or limited energy field to take up the task and hence would rather not waste our energy for doing things we do not desire.

Thus, cultivating energy, having the health to maintain it, and carrying a self-image that will help to not leak energy are the only skills required to not manage but utilize time effectively.

Time management examples- Here are 5 reasons you are not able to manage time-

Now that we know we lack energy to accomplish a goal or a task, let’s see how we are losing energy in our daily lives and here are few examples –

  1. Indecision– You want a break for yourself from work and rest for a few days to feel rejuvenated, but you can’t as you have deadlines nearing, so you get irritated because you think you can’t do anything about it. The irritation itself tends to make you lose energy as your body craves for the break but you are doing the opposite- Working. Because you lose energy, you don’t feel like picking up the task you actually wanted to put some time into. For example- playing with your kid/ going out for a vacation or learning a new thing you wanted to.
  2. Disagreement– You had a conversation with your partner and it turned out to be a heated argument where you disagreed about what your partner said. Disagreement too, causes loss of energy resulting in loss of time.
  3. Feeling of injustice- You are a giver and do everything that might make people around you happy, but they don’t value what you offer and demean your efforts. What do you think it does to you? You lose energy.
  4. Poor sleep- You scroll on the phone in the night and you don’t understand when 15 min turned into 1 or 2 hours. Lack of sleep or irregular sleeping patterns also make you lose energy and time for the upcoming day.
  5. Poor emotional or mental health– Do you feel guilty about not achieving the goal you set for yourself.? Do you blame yourself for everything wrong that happens to you? Do you get agitated with yourself that people don’t behave the way you want to? These all are signs of poor emotional health and affect you mentally, thus making you lose all the energy you have. You would rather spend time getting out of this feeling than being productive.

So, what could be a takeaway from this?

It was never because you lacked time to do anything, but, you lacked energy and a strong self-image to accomplish it. If you want to make a start it’s best to start by watching “how to Stop Being Mediocre and start being elite” where Guruji states key points to build self-image.

How to develop and improve time management skills -

Don’t worry, I got your back. As we now know that the only way to improve your time management skills is by increasing your energy, so how do we increase energy?

We all have come across this quote: “Time is Energy” and as mentioned earlier, time is Maa Kali and she needs to be respected, for us to seek her blessings in the form of energy.

How to respect Maa Kali (goddess) and seek her blessings?

This is dependent on how connected we are with the rules set by Maa Kali (also Mother Nature). By honouring these rules, we offer our respect to her. In yoga, we call it “Devi Maryada (respect to Devi)”.

Devi (goddess) blessing human with energy(time management skill) to achieve his desires

5 ways to respect Devi to get health and energy-

  1. Rashmi devi maryada – she is the goddess that dominates the light cycle. Following the light cycle ( circadian rhythm) in the below manner will help you to please her- get the morning sunlight on the body and ensure that you watch the sunrise and sunset. When the sun sets, don’t expose yourself to blue light ( tube lights , etc ), rather light the room with oil lamps or Diya’s. If you cannot avoid this, wear the blue blocking glasses and cover yourself. This will help you to balance your hormones.
  2. Narayani Devi maryada– we know that our body is made up of water, but the form of water here is not the ordinary water we consume, it is the fourth form of water, which is known as exclusion zone water or Ez water. To please Narayani Devi, practise making ez water and consuming in the following ways- keep a glass bottle/ container with RO filled water in the sun for 10 minutes and keep consuming it throughout the day. Another option is to fill the silver glass with RO water and have at least 3 glasses per day. This will help the cells in the body to be hydrated.
  3. Bhoomi Devi/ Bhudevi maryada– she is the goddess that takes care of anything and everything that comes in contact with her. She is the earth and can be pleased when you connect with her. Walk barefoot on the ground for at least 15 minutes a day or get in contact with earth on all fours for 15 minutes. With this, also ensure that while sleeping keep your head on the south and legs point to the north direction. Grounding plays a critical role when it comes to regulation of electrons and protons in the body. Issues like sleep, anxiety, stress, pain or any kind of inflammation in the body reduces and calms the body down.
  4. Annapurneshwari Devi maryada– she is the one taking care of our food and digestion. Follow the below to please her- once you wake up, within 30 min, eat something which is rich in fats and protein, and have the last meal before the sun sets. After sunset, let the digestive system take rest. When we eat food, the body creates UV light (different from what we get from the sun), which weakens after sunset hence  slowing the digestion and resulting in storing the food as fat and not as an energy source.
  5. Swapneshwari Devi maryada– she is the one taking care of the restoration that happens in the body once we sleep. Please her by ensuring that you do not stay up late in the night as this interrupts her. One more thing to take into account is not waking up with an alarm sound as this too interrupts her work of restoring the body which generally results in the body feeling tired and sluggish the next day.
  6. Parvati Devi maryada– cold thermogenesis  or exposing the body to cold temperature is how we respect Parvati Devi. By dipping the body in ice cold water or taking bath with cold water helps the body to create the infrared radiation internally which helps to strengthen the mitochondria, the powerhouse of the cells thus helping us reverse ageing, relaxing muscles, etc

Follow this for 15 days and you will be able to revive your health and increase your energy as Devi gets pleased and blesses you.

Person reclaiming health by following circadian rhythm and being in sync with nature(time management skill)

Why are time management skills aka energy cultivation and maintenance important?

Here are a number of reasons why cultivating energy, which is an essential “time management skill”, important:

  1. Connection with body– Because you are so much in sync with nature and your hormonal cycles, you get more connected to your body, the way it behaves. You start respecting your own body. You work according to your cycles and that helps you relax and get rejuvenated. Your body gets much fitter and lighter and you will have a subjective experience of time.
  2. Free from lifestyle diseases One of the most important gifts that we receive from Devi is that she starts taking care of us and living without diseases is a boon. Energy dwells in a healthy body.
  3. Clarity of thoughts- As you build energy and maintain it, you start getting clarity of how things work, what is required out of you, your brain does not get foggy which is one of the many reasons why we fail to utilise time well.
  4. Focused mind- Because you are not leaking energy and cultivating it more, tends you to get clearer thoughts, your mind is now very much equipped to get you in a focused state whenever you desire. You create better boundaries as you get happy hormones released when you put all your attention and work around your goals
  5. Better learning curve for life- Since goals can be either small or big, you start achieving your goals with Devi’s grace, thus making your learning rate grow exponentially. Your ability to retain knowledge also grows as new neural patterns get created.

Guruji says Devi gets pleased only by doing difficult things and we cannot expect to get elite results by doing mediocre things.

SUMMARY:

  • Time is not an external entity. Time is Maa Kali.
  • We never lacked time, we lacked energy to achieve or complete anything.
  • We can expand our time only if we have good health and energy.
  • Energy will be leaked in case of poor health, indecisions, disagreements, etc so we need to ensure that we don’t leak energy
  • Time is an internal clock, and by following Devi maryada, we get in touch with how humans were designed to live.
  • The only time management skills required are to maintain health, develop energy, maintain and preserve energy.
  • Only by following Devi Maryada and being in sync with Nature’s cycle, we can reclaim health and energy.

Conclusion:

To conclude, offer respect to Maa Kali by following Devi Maryada, and she will bless you with the health to contain the energy that gets created and qualities like being productive, efficient, disciplined and consistent will become innate.
